SamyGo Remote – Control your samsung tv with android
Thanks to the SamyGo Project my TV Samsung LE37B650 became a high-tech device. Because it has an ethernet port and runs Linux, it enables you to do many cool things with it. For example one can run a server application which receives remote signals through your LAN. Therefore you have to install “Remote Lan Control” which can be done using the content library (only necessary on B-Series). For a how-to see below!
Because there only was a Windows-client for B-Series TVs and the android client from Samsung only runs on Samsung devices, I wrote an Android-Client to be able to control the TV using my android phone. The result can be downloaded from the Android Market. The code is licensed under the GPLv2 and is published on Github.
The app only works for B-Series TVs from Samsung, because “Remote Lan Control” only runs on these devices. C-Series and D-Series TVs are now also supported without needing to modify the TV. Samsung created a remote-app for C-Series TVs but it only runs on the iPhone or on Android devices produces by Samsung. C-Series devices are able to receive remote signals over the network from scratch (using UPnP) but I’ve no idea how to access the interface and I’m not able to analyse it, because I don’t have such a device.
How-To for B-Series:
Because sometimes it is hard to find the desired information on the SamyGo Project pages, I describe how to run “Remote Lan Control” on your TV. Even if the described approach is not very dangerous because the TV resets to its initial state after a restart, I am not responsible for any damages on your TV. Do it on your own risk!
- Download “Remote Lan Control”: click me
- Extract the zip-file and copy the content to a USB-stick (USB-stick should be formatted in FAT32)
- Plug the USB-stick into your TV
- If you TV is already turned on, a window should pop up after a little while. Select “Content Library”
- If your TV was off or no window popped up, press the button “CONTENT” on your remote and select the most right symbol
- Now select “USB” and highlight the “Games” entry: Press the ENTER-Button
- Some people reported that there was no Games section. In this case you could try to create one. This requires telnet enabled and is explained here
- Now you should see a list of applications which are installed on your USB-stick. Highlight “SamyGO Remote” and press the ENTER-Button. Now a menu appears where you can run the application. You can also copy the application to the TVs internal storage so that you don’t have to plug in your USB-stick every time you want to run the application.
- If you see a message “Not available” you habe to downgrade your firmware. The latest firmware update from samsung removed the possibility to load extensions like this. How to downgrade the firmware is explained here
- If you run the application there is NO feedback. Anyway – the server should be running now
- Don’t forget to change the ip-address in the android app to point to your TV. You can try to let SamyGo Remote automatically search for your TV. If it doesn’t find it, you are either not connected to wifi, your wifi is not configured properly or your TV is not supported
Minor flaw: The server on your TV has to be restarted every time you turn on/off your TV. There is no simple solution yet. The only way to automatically start the server is to modify your firmware and create a start-script which runs the server using gdb (gdbtrick.sh) or injectso. But this should only be done by advanced users. Maybe I will explain it in another post. For the meantime you can look here for more information.
How-To for C-Series:
- Turn on your TV
- To enable your TV to receive remote control signals over the network, go to the System-Settings in the TVs menu. If there is no such menu entry, your TV is not supported.
- Connect your phone via wifi with the same network your TV is connected with
- Start SamyGo Remote
- Go to Menu -> Settings -> Hostname -> Find automatically (Attention: this only works if your TV is within the same broadcast domain as your phone. Some routers don’t forward broadcast packages by default, e.g. the Fritz!Box. Make sure to enable communication between wifi devices.)
- If your device could be found, your phone should vibrate. In this case, the TV-type is changed accordingly. If you own a C-Series or D-Series TV but the type changed to B-Series, your TV is not supported.
- If no device could be found, try to determine the ip-address of your TV manually (e.g. look into the webinterface of your router) and type it into the hostname input field.
- Now the remote control should work

Very nice work!
Would it be possible to make the app available for HTC wildfire/buzz?
It has a 320×240 (QVGA) resolution.
I published a new version to the market which also supports QVGA screens.
Hi
I’ve tried the procedure to install the Remote Lan Control on my TV UE40B8050. I can find the file for SammyGo in the USB / child folder, but when I choose it, it says ‘no access’ What do I do wrong?
Best regards
Per
Great and fun app.. (as fun as a remote can be).
Any chance you can build a C series remote? i have a 37c650 on the way and I’m reeeaaaaly just eager to try it.
Thank you.
I’m not able to support C-Series devices at the moment, because I don’t own such a device. However, try searching xda-developers.com. There you can find a modified version of the samsung remote control app for C-Series devices (called Qwerty Remocon) which should be able to run on any android device (not only samsung devices).
When i am trying to run “Samygo Remote” on my samsung UE46B7070-TV from the Usb-dongle, my TV tels me “it’s not avaylible. When i’m trying to copy the contents to the TV-memory, it tels me “no crypted in your UDN”. What can i do?
SAME “not available” LN52B750

Trying SamyGO on a Samsung B7100WF, and I also am getting the “not encrypted with your UDN” :<
Hi,
Just tried this on LE46B650 and when I select SamyGO under the Games section I also get “Not Available!” – Please can you help me?
The file structure that I have on the USB stick (formatted as Fat 32) is a folder called “remote” with the following content : a src folder and the following files: clmeta.dat, loader.so, remote.so and SamyGO (which is a PNG image)??

@Russell Prince
The problem probably exists, because you have the latest firmware installed on your TV. This version doesn’t allow installing third-party applications anymore. But there seems to be a trick I found here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/samygo/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=512
It works perfect! But how do I copy the program to the internal memory of my tv?
@Ralf
In step 5 when you highlight “SamyGo Remote” and press ENTER, there should be a menu entry to copy the application to the internal memory. However this will NOT automatically start the application when you turn on your TV. If you want the application to automatically start, look here for an instruction for B65x TVs.
Question, would you have any idea if this would work on a A 950
@Celio sosa
Short answer: It’s not possible
Long answer: In general it would be possible if you have no problem to modify your firmware (risky) and if the server-component would be adjusted to run on this device. But I think there is not enough interest in doing this as the community of A-Series owner is too small. If you are an advanced user, you can try doing it

please help i have no idea which zip file to download as none of the files are actually labelled remote lan control i’m pretty confident i can install the software once i figure out which software to download
I’m sorry, the position of the file has been changed recently. I updated the link in the article now. You can also find it here.
problem solved my advice is to just google samygo remote lan control and download it from source forge its a lot quicker than trawling through all the zip files till you find it, however awesome software works like a charm on my le40b652t i can now completely infuriate my other half without her even knowing great software and app i just hope there’s an update on the way to automatically start the server when it arrives 10/10 for now i’ll give it a 9/10
Hi Tom,
I’m working on an iPhone app for the B-series Remote. I was making the button images, when I came across your Andoid app. Is there a way that I can re-use your images for the remote layout?
With kind regards,

Hi guys!
SamyGO founder here..
I noticed some users taking “Not Available!” errors.
This due Samsung, they doesn’t allow our utilities at their latest firmwares.
They trying to stop us instead of removing bugs on theirs TV’s.
Anyway, I advice you to down grade firmwares with “FFB” utility. They doesn’t upgrade anything at latest firmwares but put lots of restrictions, nothing more!…
CI+ device owners also has this fault. They could use children menu hack to load this utility. That hack explained on wiki pages at SamyGO…
Thanks
I have UE40D7000.
Two problems:
-TextTV not working
- Text input not working. The text box can be filled but how to send it to TV?
Direct keyboard input would be better than text box
Hi
Should it work with HT-C6500 or does it only work with tv’s?
I use the WonderMedia WM8650 Android device to run SamyGo Remote. The app starts up. However, there is no hardware button on the device to enter the Menu so I cannot make any changes to the settings.
Is there an other way to change the settings? Perhaps by editing a config file?
Thanks.
Podge
It works nocely with my Samnsung Bd Player and I love the “input text” function.
Does it work with my series C5 TV?
Some progress with the series C? my tv is a le32c550.
Thanks
Rodrigo
C-Series and D-Series is already implemented but as far as I know, your TV is not supported because it doesn’t have the required software components.
Hi
Can i print in text in ytube in my mobile
(Qwentry) Samsung ue b7070
No, I’m sorry. Text input unfortunately only works for C and D-Series.
Wonderful app.
It works very fine on my Samsung UE40B8000XW but, unfortunately, not all the keys on my remote controller are in the same position of the B650.
Can you consider it in next release?
This is the layout in my RC:

Many thanks in advance.

I have a B850, When I try to run the app from Content Library (i put it into “Gallery” as I dont have “Games”, I get a blank (grey) screen [NO feedback] which i think is ok at this point. I go back to my hdmi source by pressing “source” button on remote. I then open the app on my smartphone, it auto find the TV, BUT says “connection refused” It tries to connect to port 2345.
How can I go ahead? Anyone?
I have the same problem! Tom, some help?
Hi Tom,
Just for reference; the samygo wiki has moved to wiki.samygo.tv.
In particular, the page for remote LAN control is now:
http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Content_Library_applications_list#Remote_LAN_Control
keep up the good work,
marcelr
Thanks @MarcelR, I updated all links referring to the wiki.
Text input still not working in LG Optimus One P500 to D7000-TV. TTX working OK
Would it be possible to have some macro buttons?
It takes seven pushes with four different buttons to change from terrestial to satellite channel.
@ Riku
I looked closer the problem.
Text input works in some cases, where the text is inputted normally with number pad.
But for Youtube or Vimeo text is inputted from character field, and in that case the text input is not working.
Can someone help me with the “Not available” problem. I am having that problem even when using 3000.G firmware (2009)
I cracked it. After copying the apps(games) to ‘Children’ category, I then moved them into the telnet trojan folder (subfolder of ‘Children’ if you installed the trojan in there) Then from there, the apps can run smoothly without the ‘Not available’ problem. I suspect this should also work with 2010 firmware.
[Note, my B850 does not have 'Game' category.]
It prefect in my samsun galaxy tab 10.1 link to my samsung 46″led tv included dnla… Everything prefect without problems… Cool nice software apps
Ok
I have a SAMSUNG series 5 530 LCD TV & USING A SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X10i. My tv only has a fm receiver. Will I be able 2 control my tv with my android?

@ Riku
I also have the same problem..I am able to input text but not able to send it to the TV..
Any help …
Hi Tom,
I have one UE32C5000QWXXH, version no: SQ03, latest firmware T-TDT5DEUC-1024.1 and one Samsung GT-I9000 running Android 2.3.5. I installed SamyGo Remote, it starts, find my TV automatically at 192.168.1.XXX but telnet connection is refused by my TV. I also installed TVCallNotify and … it is working fine so as a consequence, I understand that they use other communication protocol (SOAP?). I search forum.samygo.tv-19 pages-nothing about UE32C5000, found this http://sourceforge.net/projects/samygo/files/C%20Series/For%20ARM%20CPUs/Content%20Library%20Applications/ but I’m a little bit skeptical. Is there any change to make this work?
Thanks in advance!
does your application work on samsung 750 series, 55″ lcd tv’s ??
thanks
please respond
@ Tom
SamyGo detects my TV (LE32C550) as a B-Series, but I get the message “Connection refused”. But I am afraid to install the Remote Lan Control in order not to damage the TV.
I’m sorry to say that your TV (LE32C550) is not supported because Samsung doesn’t provide an interface to remote control it. Also it’s not possible to install Remote Lan Control on your TV, this is only an option on B-Series TVs.
@ Tom
Oh, pity. Thank you
I would like to use with BD-D5100 Blue-Ray player, I do not know what kind of settings I have to use for it. I have found an open port on the player, but I can set this in B mode only, and in that mode it does not work. Also the text input is the most important for me, so C or D mode would be better I think, but in that case the port setting is fixed.

Hello, how do I configure the port from this app? App finds the TV ip, but tries to connect to port 55000, but TV (B-series) is running the Remote Lan Control on port 2345?

Hi
I have just purchased a Samsung UE40ES55 SMART TV and downloaded the SamyGo Remote on my Samsung Galaxy phone. The remote works great but I would like to know if it has a QWERTY keypad option? I have tried using the ‘input text’ option, however, there isn’t an option to then send?
Thanks.
This soft does not communicate with my samsung tv UE40C630
Hi there, is there any chance of adding a button and settings for sending magic packets to a device/devices with wake on LAN? It would be cool if it could send the magic packets at remote start up or by pressing a button on the remote app. The purpose would be to wake a device on the network that has some DLNA media server on it.
Can you please install a 3d button? Thanks matthias pröll
Hi, E series is workin gproperly here (E5700 in my case), including text input. So really a perfect tool.
Two wishes, though: Could you please enable app2sd so I can move the app to my sd card? And is it possible to add a mouse controller, so I can move the pointer, e.g. in the internet browser, via touch interface on the phone?
@ Morales
I just tested this app with my ES6800 and the text input works with most apps and the search feature, but not all. For example, you can get text to input to LoveFilm but not Youtube. But as the tv search goes via YouTube, it’s not an issue.
For users a bit puzzled by the text input, there is no send. The text will appear in the text entry box (not instantly) if it’s going to work. If it doesn’t, that app doesn’t work with it.
Great app – only wish I could purchase an ad free version and tailor the layout to fit my Galaxy Note (I like big buttons, but these are too big!!).
Nice
I have samsung TV UE40C6000. It do not work. We can help me?

i have samsung LED T v -UA40c5000, i have down loaded samygo remote to my android mobile GT 15801 but its not working , why this is not working for this TV and could not find TV and where could i found host name and can i use internet in TV of my mobile through hot spot please help.
I have LED SMART TV Samsung Make Mode: UA32ES6200 Cannot Power ON TV using samygo remote rest works ok
When your TV is not powered on, your TVs network interface is off as well. AFAIK the Samsung TVs don’t listen to magic packages (Wake on lan) so it’s not possible to turn on the TV over the network.
Hi Tom
Very nice app,it working great.
Can you please do a tutorial how to instal the app in the TV and eliminate the restart issue. I have an LE32B651T3WXXH and i didn’t do any firmware update.
Thank you very much.

Hello all. I have a problem. I have installed SamyGo Remote on My Samsung Galaxy S3 and everything was great. I was able to start tv with the program and control the tv fully. However now I can use SamyGo Remote only when the TV is running. I cant start the TV with it. It says faild to connect to /192.168.0.105 (port 55000): connect failed: EHOSTUNREACH (No route to host). However when the TV is running everything works ok. Any tip what to do? The IP192.168.0.105 is correct I have checked it.
Hi. Is it possible to switch the TV on with this app?
